At a late summer wedding in the Congregational Church on Saturday afternoon, Miss Bernette Ann Woldin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Woldin of Church street, became the bride of Clyde B. Rue U.S.N., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B. [sic] Rue of Livonia, Mich. The pastor, Dr. Olin Lewis, performed the double ring ceremony at 4 o'clock in a setting of white gladioli.
Mahlon Merk, church organist, played the nuptual music. Robert Rue, of Fort Bragg, N.C., brother of the bridgroom, was the soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace over satin, designed with a high neckline, fitted bodice, long sleeves and a bouffant skirt. The neckline and skirt was overlayed with satin looped scroll. There was a satin bustle bow at the back. Her fingertip veil was attached to a looped satin coronet. She carried a bouqiet of eucharist lillies and stephanotis.
Miss Peggy Apgar of Central avenue was the bride's only attendant in a gown of pale yellow chiffon with a hooped skirt. She wore a tieara of seed pearls and carried a bouquet of yellow and bronze pompons.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Woldin chose a gold silk sheath with avacado accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore pale blue chiffon with nylon lace panels and dark blue accessories. Their corsages were of orchids.
John Platske of Chicago was the best ban. The ushers were William and Robert Woldin, brothers of the bride, and William and James Rue, brothers of the bridegroom.
Following the wedding there was a reception for 175 guests in the garden of the Woldin home in Church street. Previous to the wedding, the bride entertained 60 neighborhood children at a reception in the garden.
The couple left for a honeymoon to the Poconos, the bride wearing a black and white tweed suit with matching accessories. They will reside at 25 Grove street, New London, Conn.
The bride, a graduate of Bound Brook High School, attended Michigan State College for two years. She will enter Connecticut College for Women at New London this month. During the past summer, she has conducted the Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program at the Codrington Pool.
The bridegroom attended Michigan State College for two years and is presently serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine "Trout" at New London.

Friends Last night

Miss Carol Cregar and Mrs. William Siegrist, the former Elise Stillwell, were hostesses at a surprise miscellaneous shower last evening for Miss Bernette (Peachy) Woldin of Church street. The party was held at the Cregar home in East High street. The gifts were arranged under an umbrella, decorated in white. Refreshments were served to 20 guests.
Miss Woldin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Woldin of Church street. Her marriage to Clyde Rue, U.S.N. son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rue of Livonia, Mich. will take place on Saturday, September 8 at 4 o'clock in the Congregational Church with Dr. Olin Lewis, pastor, officiating. A reception will follow at the Woldin home. Miss Peggy Apgar of Central avenue will be the bride's only attendant.
Miss Woldin is a graduate of Bound Brook High School and spent two years at Michigan State University. In the fall, she will enter Connecticut College for Women at New London, Conn., where Mr. Rue is stationed on the U.S.S. Trout. Mr. Rue was graduated from Livonia High School and attended Michigan State University for two years.
