Innisfree, 1970-1998
By Tom Rue
Preface
Entitled "A history of Innisfree in Milanville," I was pleased to be asked by Opal Hocker, President of the Damascus Township Historical Society, to speak on this subject, which I did on July 23, 2014 at the Damascus Community Center. In preparation, I created a website for Innisfree on tomrue.net. I drew from that create a PowerPoint (below).
My aim there, as it is here, was to authentically describe what happened at Innisfree during the years 1970 to 1998 in the context of local history. Anyone who ever visited Innisfree over the years may contribute writing or media to share their perspectives and experiences by emailing me. Of course, this website presents "a" history (not "the" history) of Innisfree in Milanville, Pennsylvania up until the property was sold to its present owner in 1998.
As the last corporate secretary, most of the books and records of Innisfree Corporation (which is now dissolved) remain in my possession, with stacks of photos and files. Supplemented by this material, the present account is written from my perspective as a participant in some events and as an observer of others. Writing up to a half century after the fact, there are undoubtedly gaps in this account. Should you discover any errors or important omissions, or if you have anything relevant to add, please shoot me an email.
If the publication of this narrative, either on the web or in print, results in any revenue, all proceeds will go to the UDUUF for the Bud Rue Memorial Fund for Social Justice. Thank you.
Respectfully submitted, Tom Rue, LMHC
Secretary of Innisfree Corporation
