A lad, aged 10 years, son of Mr. John CALLAN of this place, came nigh losing his life by drowning on Saturday last. He, with several other boys, was bathing in the Basin below this place, and going beyond his depth, had gone down for the last time, when some men working near by alarmed by the cries of the lads on shore, came up and succeeded in recovering the body after it had been in the water ten minutes.
