Gold Award to Carolina P. Rue at Ithaca College
ITHACA -- Carolina P. Rue, 19, of Monticello, a sophomore studying
in exercise science at Ithaca College, received a Gold Award at
a Professional Symposium Awards Banquet held September 25th.
This award went to participants in the Ithaca Opportunity Program
and Higher Education Opportunity Program who demonstrated exemplary
academic performance, based upon their cumulative grade point average
for the preceding semesters, according to Ithaca spokesperson Kristin
Hamill.
Full-time students who maintained a minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade
point average for the 1998-99 academic year were given the Gold
Award. Students with an average of 2.7 or above received a Silver
Award.
A 1998 graduate of Monticello High School, Rue hopes to attend
medical school and specialize in sports medicine. She is a member
of the track and cross-country teams at Ithaca.
