Herman Reinshagen receives Masonic appointment

MONTICELLO - Herman Reinshagen of Swan Lake has been appointed to high office in the Masonic Fraternity, as annouced by Earl J. Hino, the state's Grand Master of Masons. Mr. Reinshagen will serve as Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Senegal Near the Grand Lodge of New York.

A formal presentation of the honor at the Monticello Masonic Temple will be made on behalf of the Grand Master and New York State's quarter of a million Masons on Monday, September 11, 7:30 P.M. at the Monticello Masonic Temple, 5 Bank St., Monticello.

Mr. Reinshagen and his wife, Minerva Reinshagen, are retired farmers and lifetime residents of the area.ÿ District Deputy Grand Master Arthur Glueck of Loch Sheldrake will lead the state's delegation for the presentation. Presiding Master Harold W. Knapp of Monticello Lodge #532, who will host the proceedings, is a resident of Mongaup Valley. He is a retired telephone lineman.

Freemasonry, the world's oldest fraternal organization, has a U.S. membership of 3.5 million, and about six million worldwide. Its members are men of all walks of life who meet on a common level to further the principles of friendship, morality, and brotherhood. Historically famous Masons include 14 U.S. presidents and many world figures. The fraternity's charitable and benevolent activities, which include the renowned Masonic Medical Research Laboratory and the Masonic Home, both in Utica, provide far-reaching public benefits.
