    Habitat for Humanity
    hosts guest speakers

MONTICELLO - Guest speakers from affiliate chapters in two neighboring counties will meet with organizers of the newly formed Habitat for Humanity of Sullivan County on Wednesday, January 25, 7:00 p.m., in the Monticello Neighborhood Facility, next to the ambulance building.
Ann Rue, co-founder of Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County, Pa., together with Rev. Ken Wonderland, president of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Middletown, will explain the nuts and bolts of starting a new chapter of this international organization dedicated to housing people in need.
Rev. Wonderland and Mrs. Rue will provide advice to the fledgling group in Sullivan County based on organizational experiences in their chapters. A short video will also he shown.
Habitat builds house with donated time and construction materials, keeping costs to a minimum. Local chapters hold mortgages and select which applicants become partner families. Family selection is based on need, ability to make mortgage payments, and other objective factors.
Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical, grass-roots ministry, rounded in 1976, with a goal of eliminating poverty housing and homelessness. Its most famous volunteer is former President Jimmy Carter who with his wife Rosalynn have donated years of service to the organization since leaving the White House. But thousand of lesser known people around the world also engage in Habitat's work.
People of all faiths are invited to join the effort in Sullivan County. Wednesday's event is open to the public.
To become a Habitat volunteer, or for information about this event or about Habitat for Humanity of Sullivan County, call Terry Vivier at (914) 791-xxxx.
