Rue becomes certified
mental health counselor
- MONTICELLO - Thomas Rue of Monticello recently became a certified clinical mental health counselor, with credentials granted by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
- Rue is now qualified to provide an array of professional counseling services, involving psychotherapy, human development, learning theory, and group dynamics to families, couples, and individuals.
- Requirements for certification include a doctorate or masters degree and at least 3000 hours of post graduate clinical counseling work. Candidates must also pass a standardized test and submit a taped counseling sample to the national academy for peer review.
- A 1985 graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Trenton State College, Rue has been certified for the general practice of counseling since 1990. He is a contributing editor for The River Reporter.
