Youth Bureau conference to be held in Callicoon
- CALLICOON - The 22nd annual conference of the NYS Youth Bureaus will be held October 18-21 at the Villa Roma Resort Hotel in Callicoon.
- "Youth Development: Celebrating Diversity Together" will feature several nationally recognized youth service professionals and over 30 workshops and panels on a variety of issues, including youth employment, teen sexuality, juvenile justice, cultural diversity, funding, and policy issues.
- Throughout the state over 100 youth bureaus join in partnership with thousands of youth-serving agencies and the NYS Division for Youth to provide delinquency prevention programming. In Sullivan County, 32 community and school-based programs are funded through the Youth Bureau.
- Programs operating in Sullivan County include municipal recreation activities, a juvenile aide officer in Monticello, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, school-based mediation services, services to special education students in Fallsburg, substance abuse prevention activities throughout the county and a youth center in Callicoon.
- The conference provides training for the staff and administrators of these programs as well as an opportunity for conference participants to keep abreast of changes in the field and to network with other professionals.
- Up to 50% funding will be available to people in need to want to attend the conference in Callicoon.
