Exit 106 |
Monticello exit |
August 9, 2007 |
Of those pictured here, this bridge appears to be in the worst condition. Wood reinforcements have apparently been put in place to add support to the structure. Concrete appears heavily pitted. This bridge does not get heavy traffic. It connects East Broadway to Joyland Road. |
Exit 107 |
Bridgeville exit |
August 9, 2007 |
This bridge is evidently currently receiving some sort of maintenance, though there was not much activity on the weekday when these photos were taken. This bridge gets a moderate amount of traffic. Crossing over NYS Route at Exit 107, this bridge connects Bridgeville Road and Heiden Road which leads to Thompsonville. |
Exit 108 Viaduct |
Bridgeville |
August 9, 2007 |
This span receives very heavy traffic, carrying traffic over the Mongaup River in Bridgeville. |
County Bridge 285 |
Bridgeville |
August 9, 2007 |
The abutment of this bridge, located in the hamlet of Bridgeville, near Exit 108 on Bridgeville Road (old Route 17), is constructed directly against the abutment of what is reported to have been the first covered bridge in New York State. It is unclear what impact, if any, this may have on the stress the current bridge's foundation will bear; especially is ice is able to form between the two, or if the old structure is receding or moving to any extent. (See Bridgeville history page and an article that I wrote on Wikipedia.) |
Exit 109 |
Rock Hill |
August 9, 2007 |
Of the bridges shown on this page, this one generally appears to be in the best condition, though some possible cracking visible on the underside's ceiling plates. |
