GRAND MASTER OSTROV TO BE HERE |
The plans for the Centennial Celebration of the six Sullivan Masonic Lodges are nearing completion and indications are that it will be an historic event. The newly elected Grand Master, M.W. Harry Ostrov and his official family will be present for the entire weekend at the Laurels Country Club on Sackett Lake in Monticello.
The following is the tentative program, subject to minor revision, of course:
Friday, May 18th, 4:00 P.M.
A cavalcade of cars including all the Lodges in the County will meet the Grand Master at Bloomingburgh to escort him with the Sheriff's cars, etc. to Monticello where in front of the court house he will be presented with the keys of the city by Mayor and Bro. Luis de Hoyos and will be greeted by Assemblyman and Bro. "Bucky" Mintz, County Judge and Bro Ben Newberg, and members of the Board of Supervisors. From there they will go to the Laurels to register and for dinner.
Friday, 9:30 P.M.
Open house at Callicoon Lodge, Jeffersonville. An informal meeting with the Grand Master present. Casper Eggler and the members are hoping that a good many of the county Masons will be present on this evening to celebrate with them their 100 years of Masonry, to talk informally with the Grand Master and his officers, to see and hear their new organ and to partake of refreshments with them.
Ground-breaking ceremonies in Liberty for Mongaup Lodge's new Temple. This will be a unique event for it has been a good many years since a lodge in Sullivan County has built a Temple. Grand Master Ostrov will be present for this occasion also. W. Bro. John Huggler and his officers are looking forward to having a large crowd from all over the County on this occasion.
Cocktail Party followed by a dinner in honor of M.W. Harry Ostrov and our 100 years of Masonry at the Laurels Country Club. Tickets for the dinner ($10.00 each) are still available. The ladies are cordially invited and if you wish to invite non-Masons, they too will be welcome. Rt. Wor. Bro. Fred Schadt of Callicoon Lodge, Jeffersonville, will be M.C. for the event. Reservations are still available at the Laurels for any who might wish to spend an enjoyable weekend there. Rates start at $] 3.00 a day and include the dinner. This is an historic event for Sullivan County Masons and no one should miss it. To mark the event a District History is being published, a copy to go to every Mason in the six lodges. To date nearly $6,000.00 in ads have been sold. This will defray the expenses of the event, leaving a nice check to be presented to the Grand Master for the Brotherhood Fund.
