M.D. Headington
Superintendent of Schools
Bernards Township Public Schools
Basking Ridge, New Jersey

Dear Mr. Headington:

It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. An opportunity to further advance my career has presented itself and I feel that I must accept it to do justice to my professional future and to the financial status of my family. I therefore submit to you my resignation to take effect March 1, 1968 or as soon as possible before that date that a replacement can be obtained.
I leave Bernards Township with only the fondest of memories of students, colleagues, and townspeople. Bernards Township has provided me with much valuable experience and I feel that the 5½ years I have spent with your school system has been of mutual benefit.
My greatest regret is that the year is interrupted for the students that I now teach. To them I want to express my sincerest apology. In spite of this concern I cannot alter my decision.
I want to thank the whole staff for affording me the opportunity to learn from them. In particular, thanks go to Mr. Wagner who has been a great source of inspiration in the leadership be has provided in my last 4 years of teaching. There are few who are able to draw out the best qualities of each of their staff members, but he is certainly one who can.
I sincerely hope my resignation is interpreted by no one in any way other than what I have stated in this letter.

Respectfully yours,
Clyde B. Rue
