February 16, 1983 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Mr. Clyde B. Rue is currently serving as department chairperson for mathematics at Lawrence Junior High School. He has been employed by the Lawrence School District since September 1977. During this period of time he has received excellent ratings as a teacher and as a supervisor.

Prior to joining the Lawrence School faculty, Mr. Rue was employed by Educational Testing Service (E.T.S.) in Princeton, New Jersey. As a member of the E.T.S. staff he developed assessment instruments, analyzed testing data and prepared assessment reports. His competence in this field of study was one of the major reasons we were pleased to have him join our staff.

Bud is an excellent classroom teacher. He works extremely well with students of different levels of abilities, attitudes and interests. He has a sensitivity to the needs of students and devotes the time and effort to resolve the difficulties they may be experiencing in learning new concepts and skills.

Bud has served on a myriad of curriculum committees. He is a welcome addition to any community because he is a "doer and not an observer." He works well with colleagues in producing the desired results and goals of the committee.

Perhaps the best illustration of Bud's effective role as a teacher would be his implementation of an outdoor education experience for junior high students. Through his determination and willingness to work well beyond the school day and into the weekend, groups of students have the opportunity to participate in a residency program. The students assist in planning the trip, menu, schedule, etc. He guides and suggests but offers ample opportunity for student involvement. An outdoor education experience is us~.:ally scheduled for elementary students but Bud is not afraid of accepting the challenge of difficult tasks.
