Police probe 'suspicious' fatal fire in Milanville

By STEPHEN CLARK

MILANVILLE - State and Wayne County law enforcement officials are trying to identify the remains of a woman found after an August 28th apartment fire on River Rd. in Milanville

According to a friend of the tenant, the victim was found in the bedroom of the first-floor Innisfree apartment of Patricia Woll, where the fire apparently originated. Authorities were initially unable to positively identify the victim and are awaiting results of additional forensic studies.

Several other tenants at the River Rd. structure escaped the 1:30 a.m. fire without injury. The building is home to two families and one vacation resident, a source close to the investigation said.

Other than labeling the fire "suspicious," Pennsylvania state police refused to reveal any further information about the incident, which remains under investigation.

Wayne County District Attorney Mark Zimmer was unavailable for comment earlier this week.

Lake Huntington and Beach Lake firefighters were assisted by firefighters and equipment from nine other New York and Pennsylvania departments, plus the Cochection and Damascus ambulance corps.
