Black History Month activity day and contest

MONTICELLO - A family activity day and essay contest are being sponsored by the Sullivan County Million Man March Community Action Group in recognition of Black History Month.
A day of family fun will be held on February 22, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Foothills Community Center in Monticello. Refreshments will be served, in addition to games, movies, speeches, and music by DJ Joint 314.
The essay contest is open to all youth, grades 9 to 12, with cash prizes to be awarded. Applicants should submit a typed essay of at least 250 words, answering the question: "Do you believe that the current history courses offered at your school adequately presents the African-American's role in American history?"
