Friedland heads Thompson Democrats
MONTICELLO - The reorganizational meeting of the Town of Thompson Democratic Committee, held November 15 at Mr. Willy's Restaurant, Monticello, led to the election of a new slate of officers to lead local Democrats.

Betty Friedland, 50, was elected president by a margin of two to one, defeating newly elected Thompson town council member Richard Sush. The wife of Monticello's mayor, Robert Friedland -- and longtime vice-chairperson of the town committee, Betty Friedland is also secretary of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee.

Friedland replaces Morris L. Rosenbloom, 90, a retired Monticello attorney who held the post for decades.

Other new faces elected November 15 include Rocky Morelli, vice-chairperson; Ken Wells, secretary; and Myrna Ginsberg, treasurer.
