    Commissioners hire
    for group home

WAYNE COUNTY - The Wayne County Commissioners acted Tuesday to hire three houseparents and a night supervisor for the Wayne County Group Home in Berlin Township.
Children & Youth Services executive director Donald Thompson recommended approval of the following applicants: Tom Rue of Milanville, Bonnie and Tim Euler of Lake Ariel as houseparents, and Kay Stephens of Honesdale as night supervisor.
In other business at Tuesday's meeting, the commissioners heard from Vincent Martone, the executive director of the county Emergency Management Agency, concerning plans to place a relay antenna on towers at two key points in the county.
The South Wayne Water and Sewer Authority (SWWSA) requested that the county guarantee a proposed $5 million bond issue to refinance SWWSA's 1981 bond issue and expand the authority's physical plant at The Hideout, near Lake Wallenpaupack.
At last Thursday's meeting, the commissioners heard from C&YS director Thompson regarding a shift in funding sources.
Thompson explained that funds which were formerly provided under Title XX for use by C&YS and the Northeast Tri-County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center have been reallocated to flow through the Human Services Development Fund.
Thompson noted that the state is trying to streamline the human service delivery service by eliminating the duplication of services by organizations in the same community, as well as making the county the sole authority for funding.
In other business, bids were awarded to Weidner Associates for two computers, one for use by homemaker Betty Schaffer in the C&YS office, and one for the Wayne/Pike Area Agency on Aging.
A salary board convened to hire Lee Rowan and Michael John Suhosky of Honesdale as sheriff's deputies, both to be paid on a per diem basis.
Commissioners also accepted the resignation of Jean Chyle, who is retiring, and promoted Donna Stanton to the position of microfilm/mail clerk supervisor. Jane Catherine Bailey was hired to replace Stanton in her previous position.
