Recovery Center offers full range of prevention and treatment

MONTICELLO - Some highlights of confidential treatment services available at the Recovery Center, at 17 Hamilton Avenue, Monticello (phone: 914/794-8080) include the following:

Outpatient Clinic -- Programs include High Intensity Program (HIP), a three-phased evening program; Healthy Alternatives Program (HALT) for batterers; Sober Teens Outpatient Services (STOPS) for youth experiencing problems as a result of their use of alcohol or other drugs; family programs; Dual Focus Program for those who have addictions as well as emotional or psychiatric illness; as well as programs for gays and lesbians, Spanish speaking people, and women.

Day Rehabilitation Services -- Five days a week, seven hours a day, with lectures, health care, and referral for additional services such as Life Skills Program, GED preparation, recreation, art therapy. Length of stay averages two to six months.

Crisis Services -- Medically monitored detox and extended stay for those awaiting admission to other levels of care, with group and individual treatment, and medical services (16 beds).

Halfway House -- Gender specific program; simultaneous programming in either day rehab or outpatient clinic; vocational training, and self-help.
Shelter-Plus-Care -- Federally-subsidized apartments to assist recovering people (30 units).

HIV/AIDS Outreach & Support Services -- Outpatient counseling, education, and testing by AIDS Related Community Services; free Community Meals Program for all who are HIV+ and significant others.

Children's Education and Recovery Through Art (CERTA) -- for children at risk of being orphaned as a result of AIDS.

Prevention-Intervention-Education -- Education programs, workshops, and other presentations for local agencies, professionals and the public.

Kids Klub -- Ten-week series for at-risk children aged 7 to 12, with emphasis on coping skills and self-esteem building aimed at helping them understand they did not cause the addiction/abuse problem.

Safe Summer Camp -- One-week sleepover camp for 35 children age 7 to 11, with drug and alcohol prevention education, Project Adventure, water safety, arts and crafts, hiking, and more.
