The River Reporter

TRR turns 30!

Congratulations to editor/publisher Laura Stuart and the staff of The River Reporter newspaper on 30 successful years!

On this page I've pasted a few photos an enjoyable evening spent celebrating that enterprise and the people who continue to make it happen. In addition to past and present newspaper staff, the public was invited by way of an editorial in the October 13th issue.

The River Reporter began that same year as a publication of the not-for-profit Delaware Valley Arts Alliance under the guidance of founding editor Tom DiGaetani. Ten years later it was purchased by Stuart Communications, Inc. and has appeared every week since then, evolving into the news source of the Upper Delaware River Valley.

I started with the paper right at that time; sold advertising, served briefly as the paper's first business manager, and from 1985 to 2000 contributed news articles, features, and editorials to the extent that my busy professional and family scheduleds would allow. Writing for TRR and the friendships formed there were a central element of my life during that period. I have always had the highest respect for TRR's political independence and it ssupport of the ideals of diversity of beliefs and freedom of expression.

Best wishes for many more happy and health years,
Tom Rue, former Contributing Editor [ my archive on this website ]
of Monticello, N.Y.
