Barnett Woldin, Local Merchant, Dies at His Home
Had Operated Retail Shoe Business in Borough for past 40 Years
Barnett Woldin, 61 years old, a shoe merchant here for the past 40 years, died at 11:30 Friday night (May 10, 1935) at his home at 80 West Cliff street. He had been in poor health for some time.
Mr. Woldin is survived by his wife, two sons, Jacob and Samuel Woldin, and two daughters, Miss Gertrude Woldin, at home, and Mrs. Sadie Auerbach of Camden.
Mr. Woldin came to Somerville 40 years ago and operated a shoe store on Division street. He moved the business in 1900 to the present Hoch Building on West Main street and nine years ago to the Central Building, West Main and Division streets. His sons were engaged with him in the business.
Mr. Woldin was a member of Anshe Chesed Congregation, the local Y.M.H.A., the Chamber of Commerce, and True Craftsman Lodge, F. and A.M. of Trenton.
The funeral was held at the house at 2 p.m. Sunday followed by a service at the Synagogue Anshe Chesed. Rabbie Moses Ahragowitz officiated. Burial was in Gateville Cemetery by Funeral Directors Samuel P. Sutphen & Son.
