UPPER DELAWARE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP

I'm sure you are all aware of the tragic sudden death of Bud Rue during the Walk for Social Justice organized by the Fellowship. Bud was instrumental in the idea and planning for the event and it is not surprising that VIP was chosen to share in the proceeds. Following Bud's death, the Rue family requested that donations continue to be made to the Social Justice Fund in memory of Bud, in lieu of flowers. I attended the Memorial Service for Bud at the Milanville Methodist Church. It was one of the most comforting and moving memorials that I have ever seen. I feel that I can speak for all of us here at VIP when I say that our thoughts of sympathy and caring are with Ann and her family at this time.
VIP has been invited to the UDUU Fellowship on December 5th to accept the very generous donation of $700. I will attend that presentation on behalf of us all. We have held conversations here at the office and at the last Board meeting regarding how we can continue to honor Bud Rue's memory through this donation. It is my hope that a special fund will be set up -- for VIP's elusive dream of providing shelter to domestic violence victims and their children. This may be the formal start of more focused planning for VIPS's "transformation" to a 24 hour shelter facility.
