Mr. Clyde Rue:

It is a pleasure for me to inform you that I have recommended to the Board of Education that you be given a permanent appointment in this school system. While it has always been my belief that teachers should constantly be alert for an opportunity to be of greater service, I hope and feel that our good people in Bernards Township will keep that opportunity alive right here at home so that few teachers will feel the need to lock elsewhere.
May I remind you that while tenure of office carries with it certain rights, privileges and immunities, it does, at the same time place upon your shoulders .additional responsibilities which I know you will accept willingly and without question.
The public schools are the "people's schools" and it is their duly elected representatives who are now saying that they are offering you a permanent public office; that they are placing their confidence and trust in their superintendent and principals to guide them honestly and truthfully in their selection; that the quality of instruction you have shown to date, although very acceptable, is only an indication of the high type of professional service you will furnish to the children of this community in the years to come.
I congratulate you and offer you my friendship in order that I may be of the greatest service to you in administering daily to the needs of the boys and girls of this district.
M.D. Headington
