School keeps tax-free status

The Internal Revenue Service yesterday announced it will recognize the tax-exempt satus of the Innisfree Corporation School of Montclair, a private institution.
Roland H. Nash Jr., IRS district director for New Jersey, said the government was satisfied the school was satisfied the school practices a racially non-discriminatory policy in the admission of students to all activities of the institution.
The school had been subject to an IRS ruling that held no private school could be granted a tax-exempt status if racial discrimination was practiced.
Nash pointed out the school had publicly advertised its admission policy in newspapers and added:
"Where a school has publicly announced a racially non-discriminatory policy, that for purpose of issueing a ruling the IRS will assume that such a policy has been adopted and will be maintained in good faith.
